Reliance Industries, in the year 2006-07 decided to venture into retail business. Since then serving the food and grocery category Reliance Retail operates Reliance Fresh, Reliance Smart and Reliance Market stores.

Reliance Retail also operates Reliance Digital, Jio stores, Reliance Trends, Reliance Footprint, Reliance Jewels and AJIO.com in addition to a large number of partner brand stores across India.

Problem

Multiple retail verticals on one platform

The biggest challenge is that it was one of the world’s largest size retail implementations with multiple verticals of retail, all on single platform, right from with integration to Point of Sale (PoS), spread across India which has various legal and taxation regimes, which all needs to be accommodated onto a single platform.

Solution

SAP IS Retail, Point of Sale (PoS)

They were looking at various options and based on our regional retail domain experience, complete setup to build-operate-transfer experience, we were selected for this initiative in collaboration with SAP. This really helped Reliance Industries to venture into retail space actively. We were involved in design and implementation of all the retail outlet types of nearly 1000-2000 stores across India.

Result

Largest Retail business transformation

We played the role of complete program management of the entire business transformation, program management, including successful implementation and rollout of all these formats of businesses of Reliance Retail. This was successful engagement project with collaboration with SAP in India.
